For Google, NBA’s All Star Weekend is basically the Super Bowl. So for their “Big Game” we made the call to break new ground in a way that the brand from Mountain View has never dreamed. Let’s set the stage with the brief. A two-part challenge.

1. Hero, showcase, and celebrate the power and dynamic range of the Google Pixel 9 Pro’s camera in the heart of NBA ASW’s Crossover - an all-ages celebration of the game. 2. Demonstrate, and let our audience feel and experience, the magic of Google Gemini AI and its multi-modal power— all through the lens of the NBA ASW weekend and basketball culture at large.

The answer? My team and I brought two very different activations to life, answering the brief while championing the brand, the technology, the fans, and, most importantly, the game.

Say hello to our activation at NBA Crossover — the Google Pixel Pro Shot Challenge—an all-ages, 3-level shooting challenge to test the best in the bay. At each challenge, hidden Pixel 9 Pro’s snapped pro-level shots of each player. After the final challenge, players could select and print their favorite photo as their own player “trading card.” The pictures below break it all down. From lines around the Moscone Center to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, Jeremy Lin, and more popping by, it was the spot to be. To top it all off, our partner Lethal Shooter had to come lay down a three-peat of high scores of his own. He “understands it now.”
